Dealers Unions

During this year, we have seen a transition from only the occasional casino with Union membership to a wave of organization sweeping the casinos from Atlantic City to Las Vegas.  We will be keeping a close eye on all of the upcoming elections.

Just in 2007, there were several Union elections nationwide.  The results of the elections are listed below.

In Nevada with the TWU:

Wynn Las Vegas  444 yes, 149 no - web site

Caesars Palace Dealers 380 yes, 128 no -  web site

On the East Coast with the UAW:

Bally's Atlantic City  628 yes, 255 no  (Harrah's)  Atlantic City Dealers website

Caesars Atlantic City  572 yes, 128 no  (Harrah's)  Atlantic City Dealers website

Tropicana Atlantic City  626 yes, 157 no

Trump Marina  175 yes, 183 no (contested)

Trump Plaza  324 yes, 149 no

MGM Grand Detroit Casino, Motor City Casino and Greektown Casino all have Dealers Unions.

Harrah's Laughlin is collecting cards.

Most of Atlantic City has either already voted in their unions or is in the organizing process. Foxwoods, with our nation’s largest table games department, will be getting their vote. In Las Vegas, it turns out that it is the premier casinos whose dealers need Union protection the most, for they have the most to lose without the power of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This is our chance.
